Competition Guidelines
spacer
These guidelines have been produced to ensure that all swimmers understand what is expected of them both on and off the poolside when they compete as a member of Westhill District ASC.
spacer
Pre- Competition:
  1. Swimmers should arrive at the poolside no later than 20 minutes prior to the stated start time for the warm-up period for each and every session. Any swimmer failing to present themselves in time may be withdrawn from all events in that session and be liable for withdrawal fees.
  2. All necessary kit (club T shirt, club cap, goggles, towels etc) should be taken to poolside. It is requested that lockers be used for swimming bags and clothing as there is limited space poolside for large bags.
  3. Swimmers must ensure that they have sufficient and appropriate food and drink for the duration of the competition (or each particular session).

During Competition:
  1. Swimmers are requested to wear Westhill caps and Westhill t-shirts when representing WDASC in competitions.
  2. Swimmers should sit with the team at all times and should not leave poolside unless permission is asked for and granted from their coach.
  3. All swimmers should report to their allocated coach first for feedback after each swim.
  4. Unless permission is granted to the contrary, it is expected that swimmers will stay to the end of the session that they are competing in.
  5. All swimmers are requested to stay for finals sessions in order that the whole team is there to support any WDASC finalists.
  6. Parents/guardians are NOT at any time permitted on poolside or to interact with swimmers at any time during sessions.
  7. Where a swim down facility is available it is expected that swimmers utilize this with coach supervision and guidance. When this opportunity is abused it may be withdrawn from use.

Footnote:
Parents naturally wish to watch their child swim, however, it is expected they do so from the spectator area, away from the team to prevent any distractions to the swimmer and coaches which is key for creating a successful competitive environment.
